Just Jojo

While I was trying to figure out something amusing to write about for this week I quickly came to the conclusion that writing on just one thing was not going to be enough. Little man is at the point in life where week by week he is picking up newer and more amusing traits. So instead of writing about just one thing I thought I might share a few of the things Jojo is up to now and days, I never realized how amusing having a child can be.
Take about a week ago, Jojo started laughing. When he was amused before he would throw his head back and look as though he was going to bust up. He would open up really wide and his whole face would smile, but darn it, not a sound came out of his little mouth. This was rather frustrating for all of us adults who tried so hard to get him to laugh. Sometimes I wonder if he just did it to spite us. Now I just wonder if maybe he was afraid. I can see you now, wondering "what would make you think that." Well the first few times Jojo laughed it went something like this...

I don't know if this is a typical reaction that a baby has when they first start laughing, but it was pretty funny. He doesn't do it as much any more but for a while there he would just look around and try to figure out when in the world was going on after he laughed.

Another fun habit that he has picked up is the deep desire to get from one place to another. He has already mastered the art of rolling, but apparently this is not good enough for him. I try to encourage him to get up on his knees and do the rocking thing. He, at the moment, doesn't seem to want to have much to do with that. His attempt at moving is more like...

Yeah, he's pretty funny. hopefully he soon figures out that, really it is easier to get on his knees at this point in time. Of course I don't mind that he dose this, he always gets back up and tries again, he is a determined little man.
Oh and then there is the funness of back aching. The more tired he gets the more back arching is involved. I am really not sure why babies do this. perhaps his thoughts are something along these lines....
and yes that is usually how it ends when he starts throwing himself around like that.

Well, any way, i am sure that there will be many more blogs to come, inspired from this little goober. But I hoped you enjoy just a little bit of what my little boy is like now and days. I know I sure do... well... most of the time ;)

Sleeping

I don't know why it is, but as soon as we move out of the house as teenagers (or whenever) we tend to turn into Zombies...
No,  not that kind of Zombie. The kind of Zombie that comes from studying all night long for the big test the next morning, or the kind of Zombie that comes from getting so much sleep that when you get up you walk around with those squintie eyes. Yes we have all done this at some point in our life... at least I sure hope so, or I am feeling very lonely right now.
You know how people try to use the "this is your brain. This is your brain on drugs"poster to encourage us to staff off of drugs.
Well Before we leave home I think some one should show us this sign:

Yes, lack of sleep is quite to Problem for us young collage kids. When Jason and I were dating we us to stay up until midnight (he had work until 11) and the both have to get up for classes. i'm sure most of you have smiler stories. Of course something I did NOT realize at the time is that these instances though often, happened because I decided they did, and I could easily fix the problem by going to bed sooner, or taking a nap. I could always sleep in one day a week and that always seemed to help hold the zombiness off for at least a few days.
Then... I had a baby. Boy I thought I knew what it was like to not get sleep (I also had insomnia for a lot of my pregnancy) but booooy was I wrong. And trust me, a zombie seems nice in comparison to what I became the first month of having Jojo. I thought you couldn't get much worse then a zombie. Welcome to the world, Super-Zombie-Vampire-Mommy-of-Dooooooooooooooooom!!!!
For Those of you who do not believe in this particular monster, you should come stay with me sometime next time I have a baby. Its not pretty. Its cranky, and emotional, and wants to snip at everything that tries to get in its way... So enjoy your sleep while you can!!
Fortunately, for everyone, now that Jojo is getting a little older and sleeping a bit better I am a little less of a monster, and I have deffinatly learned that sleep is a blessing not to be abuse, unless of course, you want to turn in to a zombie monster...

Sick

Ahhh winter, the weather is cool, the snow is falling, you nose is dripping.... no really.... : P Why is it that during most of the winter we all look something like this....
yeah you know the drill, runny  nose, nasty cough, sore throat.... yuck.
Winter is always full of the joys of sickness, and it always seems to attack with a vengeance. Although I have to admit having to be sick, with a sick baby, is not something I was really prepared for. It was great, both of us had stuffy noses and wanted to sleep all day, except Jojo wasn't quite sure how to deal with the stuff nose thing...  I felt bad for the poor little man, his life was something like this....
Yeah, I never realized how scary it can be to have a sick baby... Trust me its not fun. Fortunatly for me I live with Jason's family and his mom is a nurse, witch made me a lot less likely to run to the doctors everyday to make sure little man didn't have pneumonia or something, because I am sure I would have otherwise.
Then of course the real fun started... Jason got the cold to.... and we all know how men are when there sick...
Sorry Jason, I love you dearly, but it's true :D He did still try to be helpful with little man, cause I wasn't 100% better, but when Jason get sick, he is also use to being spoiled (my fault :) so he had a hard time with my being sick also.
Can I just say that this two week cold thing was not fun. And if I had a choice, I would not do it again. But being the smart woman I am, I know that at some we will all be sick at the same time again, and probably when we have more then just little man to take care of! (Ew, lets not think about that)
So finally after two weeks we all started to feel better, and then...
Yeah, good old stomach bug....gotta love winter... I hope its over soon.... :D

Flying

Oh the joys of flying. You thought that I had a love-hate relationship with cars, its much worse with planes. I have to admit that i am terrified of flying. I am always certain that the something awful if going to happen like...

Irrational, i know. But true.

Although I have to admit thought that the idea of flying out to Missouri was a lot more appealing then spending 20+ hours in the car with a 5 week old baby.

So I was all packed and ready to go the night before, of course we had also been packing to move so we didn't even start thinking about bed until midnight, at witch point I made Jason go to bed because he had to drive me to the airport at 5 in the morning. I, of course ended up going to bed closer to two in the morning because little man wanted to eat at one.
I had my alarm set for four so that I could wake up and feed that little man so that he would not be hungry again until I would actually have a chance to sit down and feed him. I know smart of me ;)

But of course nothing ever seems to go as planned once you have a baby, so M\my wake up call went something like this....
yeah, that was definitely the time that I was supposed to be leaving for the airport...and now I had to feed the baby, wake up the daddy and get the car packed(well Jason had to do that one.) and finish getting ready in about 15min in order to be to the airport by a time I deemed appropriate. Yeah, I don't know how much most of you know about new borns but they take at least 30 min to eat. witch meant we were not getting out of there any sooner then 5:15, unless of course I wanted to deal with a screaming baby for an hour car drive, witch I didn't.
So by the time we are all read to go it is about 5:30, and by the time we got to the air port it was about 6:30, and my flight was leaving at 7:20. leaving us an hour to check in  and get through security. Normally that would be pushing it but then I also forgot to factor in... dun...dun...dun.... holiday traffic. Yeah... we got to the airport and it looked something like this...
 yeah.... gotta love the holidays.

Thank goodness Southwest is pretty fast and we got through the line in a timely manner, and then of course there is good ol' security, the line for them was, of course twice as long. Fortunately for me the nice lady that checked us in took pitty on me and  gave Jason a pass to take me back.Of course that fact that i looked like this...
might have had something to do with it.

Yeah I was just a little overwhelmed. and of course by the time we finished checking in it was 7:00 and I had 20 min to get through security (witch looked just like the line to check in) Jason and I were positive that I was not going to make my flight and be stuck in the airport all day.But with a lot of prayer and lots of crazy running through the airport with a screaming baby we made it! And very out of breath, I sat down very contently in my seat....squished between two men.... whom i am sure greatly appreciated the company of a woman with to much stuff, and a six week old baby.

Cars

Ya know one nice thing about my blog is that I know the people that fallow it are probably in pretty similar situations to me and my husband. Married collage students with little to no money to there name and a husband who is either in school still or just starting a job right out of school. Yeah, and that means that I can joke about things that y'all relate to and hopefully you'll laugh at me as much as I laugh at myself...

My first post is about something that most of us probably have a love hate relationship with. Our car.... For the first year Jason and I were married we didn't have a car. We survived alright, but it wasn't very convenient having to ask for rides any time we didn't want to walk some where. So when (this last spring-ish) we had the chance to get an Infinite G20t with in our budget amount we jummped on the chance. I have to say it was love at first sight.
Of course the love was dampened a little when we had to write the check and actually buy it. I mean we had the money and all, but writing a check for that amount of money is never something some one enjoys...

yeah, I'm sure you know the feeling.

But getting a car is still exciting. We had a sudden freedom that let us do what ever we wanted with our begging people for a ride, like, grocery shopping! (yeah I know, exciting right) And of course we could go on dates that were further then just walking distance, witch is always nice.

yeah, car give you all kinds of nice freedom!! Yeah cars!!!

That is of course until you need them to be in good shape. Like when you're going to drive country.... and you take it in to get the 90,000 mile check up done on it. I mean if the car was ever going to behave that would be a good time right? I mean your spending a few hundred dollars to get it all healthy and nice that it would be nice enough to be healthy.... yeah so so so wrong.

We take the car to get it all fixed up, expecting to spend around 400$ (we had to get the breaks replaced as well.) and what happens, well.... this happens...

Well, i might be exaggerating just a little (about Jasons reaction, not the price) Needless to say it threw a bit or a wrench in out budget.... but ya know, we should have planned for that :) But of course there is always some thing that you can learn from these sorts of things (no matter how much it hurts your wallet.) The lesson learned here is, always double your budget for car repairs, and don't let Jason answer the phone when it involves the car.... I would say both are important things to keep in mind for the future!

New Start

So it recently occured to me that I am really bad at posting on my blog. I thought maybe it  was because I had no time or something, witch is totally a lie because I have way to much time on my hands....
After thinking about it for a little while, I decided it was because I felt that my blog posts lacked interest. I mean really who wants to just read about my life, I imagine it goes something like this...

Yeah, ok maybe not quite that bad but close any way....

So (as you can probably tell) I have decided to make life a little more interesting for you, and let be honest for me to, and add pictures, because lets  be honest who dosen't like random stick figures in a blog post? I have to give credit to my sister for the idea, she started adding pictures to her blog and I Looooove it !! So here we go, a new blog, and hope fully more, even better, and hopfully funnier, blog posts :D
